Martin Bergström

Martin Bergström is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer whose work is at once bold, abstract, and deeply organic. A red thread running through all his creations is a devotion to the organic world — a love for plants, growth, decay and nature’s primal blueprint.

He moves freely across fashion, design, and art, viewing them as interconnected parts of the same creative ecosystem. An idea, a print, or a shape is therefore as likely to emerge on a dress as on a vase or within a painting.

In Martin Bergström’s art, poetry and humour intertwine with inspirations as diverse as fungi, roots, science, and the Middle Ages. The result is a unique body of work that has seen him apply his creativity to projects ranging from costume design for pop superstars, outfits for contemporary dance performances and opera ballets, to futuristic jewellery for iconic brands, set design for luxury department stores, prints for Parisian couture houses, and recurring collaborations with global design brands.

His creations have been showcased in major cities around the world - among them Madrid, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Tokyo, London, and Helsinki - and are part of prestigious collections such as the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.

He lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland.
